The Farewell Season
The Buffalo Bills stadium opened in 1977 and held many names: Rich Stadium, Ralph Wilson Stadium, New Era Field, and finally Highmark Stadium. Die-hard fans will always know it as "the Ralph." To many fans dismay, 2025-2026 season was the final season the Bills would call this home, as they began constructing a new stadium just across the street.
Many fans felt no other place could represent the Bills history like the old Ralph could. So much happened on that ground, it was a sacred place, revered by so many.
Nonetheless, it was time for the fans to say goodbye. But it is safe to say, they went down screaming.
Week after week, the stands told the real story: generations bundled in red and blue, familiar faces weathering the cold, and moments that blurred the line between heartbreak and pride. It wasn’t just about wins or losses, it was about holding onto the feeling that this team, and this time, meant something deeper.
As "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls played one last time, the fans said goodbye to so much history. While some may not be ready for it, it is time for a new beginning.
